A Comparison Between Feminist Views on Art

[ send me this term paper ]
A 7 page research paper which examines two articles. 'Quilts, the Great American Art,' by Patricia Mainardi (1973) and 'Secluded Vision: imagines of feminine experience,' by Anne Higonnet (1987) offer two contrasting visions of women's art in the nineteenth century. On one level the view of each author is essentially the sameā€¹that view being that a male-dominated perspective on art has failed to recognize the intrinsic value of the art forms routinely produced by women as part of their domestic sphere of influence. The writer argues that Mainardi's article is much more persuasive and that Higonnet's is hesitant in its conclusions. No additional sources cited. 90maihi.wps
