investors until early in 1990. Sales were still strong as were profits, but Oracle's reputation for
dishonesty and arrogance had spread and investors knew what would be coming in the near
future. By the third quarter that year, Oracle was announcing its first-ever quarterly loss - and a
large one at that. The paper notes that Oracle is still financially sound and still has time to alter its
arrogant, accusatory culture. The paper recommends that the ideal situation would be eliminating
the CEO; failing that, the Board needs to bear down on marketing and make the department
accountable to the Board while it implements changes in the way it treats customers.
