A 10 page discussion of intervention for obesity on an individual, family and community level. Advances in medical knowledge and healthcare technology have resulted in ever-increasing life expectancies in developed nations. Paradoxically, increase in rates of obesity threatens continuation of that trend. Obesity is a direct risk factor for diabetes and coronary heart disease, and it continues to increase despite efforts to educate the public against it.
