A 10 page review of "Heart of Flesh: A Feminist Spirituality for Women and Men" by Joan D. Chittister. The book documents the ostracism of women both from public policy and from the theological development of the western world and uses the work of other authors to substantiate Chittister's contentions. This ostracism has limited both the growth and the vision of the world. Chittister uses the life of Jesus as a format for the spirituality which she see so critically hinges on the embracement of feminist values rather than the condemnation of those values. She calls for calls for a reorganization of world thinking in terms of spirituality. A Feminist Spirituality for Women and Men", as its title would suggest, calls for hearts of flesh rather than the hearts of stone which have so shaped our past. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
