Alfred Hitchcock was not an advocate of
the obvious. He integrated the implicit, the inferred and the hinted
into his films for a number of reasons, one of which was as an
alternative to the literal compliance to genre definitions This 5 page
paper argues that Hitchcock's implied criticism of other genre films is
that they do not go beyond the standard plot lines to incorporate the
elements of cinematography and incorporation of realistic motivations.
