Japanese Imperialism and Singapore

[ send me this term paper ]
This 11 page report discusses the similarities and differences between the Japanese “imperialism” or occupation of Singapore and British imperialism on the island. In Southeast Asia Japanese rule in Singapore was not so very different than what occurred when French imperialism governed “Indochina,” the Dutch in Indonesia, or the British rule in India, Singapore, Hong Kong, or any of its other “protectorates.” In many ways, the nearly four year occupation of Singapore by Japan shattered the many assumptions that had been made over the past century (and more) regarding British authority and its ability appropriately govern its colonies. Annotated bibliography lists 7 sources.
