Neonates & Anesthesia / Analgesia

[ send me this term paper ]
A 12 page paper focusing on neonates and the use of fentanyl, a narcotic drug used during painful procedures and surgery. Until recently it was not even believed that infants experienced pain, and even now it appears as though infants often go without proper pain relief due to fears surrounding the use of narcotics. Areas of discussion include a description of the drug, literature review of information regarding children and pain treatment, infants and pain, and the use of anesthesia and analgesia in infants, which includes information on the possible necessity for weaning off the drug. This is followed by an analysis and a conclusion. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
