4 pages in length. Rehabilitating a child who has been on extended bed rest or in the hospital for a long time requires more than merely putting him on just any physical therapy regimen; depending upon his somatotype – or body type – the approach to renewed motor skills is based upon his physiological composition. Whether mesomorph, endomorph or ectomorph, the child will need to follow a specific course of therapy designed for his particular body type; to force an ectomorph into endless aerobic activity will serve to further decrease his body mass, while withholding weight training from a mesomorph will result in a much slower recover. The important thing to remember is how one's body type has a great deal to do with the success or failure of a child's physical therapy program. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
