Glenwood Resource Center in Glenwood, Iowa is part of Iowa's Department of Human Services and is not accredited by JCAHO. It behaves, however, as a highly innovative and responsible organization operating on a free market basis. It maintains a quality team that designs programs on which staff members collect data that is analyzed monthly. One of the innovations of GRC is its program of reverse educational integration in which its middle-school residents do not attend the middle school in town. Rather, the middle school holds its classes on GRC property, creating an entirely different dynamic between the students than if Glenwood's residents attended school off the property.
