14 pages in length. The physical transformation that occurs with the use of anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) is such that it provides the adolescent with a greater sense of self when the objective is to increase body mass. For adolescent athletes, there are virtually no limitations when it comes to bulking up and reaching greater athletic stature. However, it stands to reason how something that metamorphoses human muscle the way steroids do must also have an impact upon other aspects of the body; as it turns out, these residual effects have been proven detrimental to the adolescent's psychological condition, inasmuch as those who take steroids "have unleashed a myriad of psychiatric complications such as addiction, depression, rage, and psychosis on themselves and the public at large" (Hall et al, 2005, p. 285).
