[ send me this term paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing upper temperature limits at which today's microprocessors can operate. All electronic equipment has a specific temperature range at which its performance is optimal, and all will have difficulties in operation should the upper limits of those temperature ranges are exceeded. Since the CPU is the central portion of the personal computer and maintains ultimate control over all functions, overheating is a condition that must be avoided but is a problem that is growing in severity as personal computers become more complex and energy-intensive. Energy can only be dissipated by means of heat, light and movement, and the only one of those three possibilities for ICs is that of generating heat. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
