15 pages in length. Like so many before and since, disgruntled workers of Boston's finest sought their labor resolutions through a most disruptive and dangerous means: striking. Issues surrounding long hours, unsatisfactory working conditions and unfair wages worked together to create a political and economic quagmire so entrenched within the department that law enforcement officials felt they were left with no other choice than to impart a complete work stoppage, which commenced on September 9, 1919, just as the night shift was to come on duty.
