This is a 5 page paper discussing the changes in the relationship between Holmes and Watson throughout the three cases of “A Scandal in Bohemia”, “The Speckled Band”, and “The Copper Beeches”. Originally a father and son, or mentor and student relationship, Watson eventually becomes disillusioned with Holmes’ coldness and criticism. After Watson marries and leaves he revisits his old friend to reunite on a case and finds that their relationship has matured, is more light-hearted and on equal ground.
