This 7 page paper reflects on the use of health information technology. Since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in 2010, healthcare organizations have recognized the importance of prevention and management of chronic diseases that have led to a major shift in the prevalent health care model. The ACA not only created a directive for improving patient satisfaction in care, but also sought methods to decrease the cost of care by improving accountability. Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) have emerged as a means of improving care, maintaining quality, and creating effective reporting and payment systems to reduce the cost of providing healthcare in this country.
