This 16 page paper look at the way in which the interest rates and inflation rates have changed in Belgium during this period. To undertake this the period is divided into three time period, 1973- 1979, the time of the floating snake mechanism, 1979 – 1993, the time when the EU was growing, and 1994 – 1999 when the country was working towards achieving convergence criteria for the joining of the single European currency.
