This 6 page paper compares and contrasts Alan Peshkin's Places of Memory with Signithia Fordham's Blacked Out, and considers the influence of culture on informing educational reforms. This paper determines the positive and negative impacts of culture on the development of educational responses in particular communities, including the Native American communities of New Mexico and the African-American communities of Washington, DC.
